The Sabal Palm is ubiquitous around the stormy areas of the Caribbean for one reason: it is able to withstand the very high winds that would simply unearth other plants.
Similarly, the Sabal Solar Canopy: 200+ mph continuous wind resistance, 33.6kW STC of solar capacity, and single axis tracking that delivers over 2,000kWh per kW. This is 20% to 30% more energy than conventional fixed tilt canopy systems. The Sabal Solar Canopy is patent-pending and was specifically designed for Caribbean customers who have salt-air, high UV exposure profiles and need to handle very high winds.
The canopy suspension is a weather protected steel design, with a weathering steel (A847) protective container frame to ride out any storm. The system is made in the USA in Maryland and shipped as a fully assembled unit to the installation site - the first of its kind to do so. Two installers can put up a Sabal Canopy in four hours after footer preparation - the end of expensive and interruptive ‘stick-built’ solar canopy installations.
Extending 120ft/40m the system has 180 square meters (1,940ft2) of panel exposure area. Two Sabal Solar Canopies mounted end-to-end need only three posts, extending for an amazing 240ft.
The solar technology is exclusively made for the Sabal Canopy by Renogy Solar from California. It consists of 280w panels that weigh 4.3 kilograms each, with customary 25 year performance warranties, using TopCon cell technology for an astounding 20%+ panel efficiency.
The system produces 65A 480v 3-phase power for commercial deployment.
The functions of the Sabal Solar Canopy are controlled by an iOS or Android app or via a browser-based monitoring system.
The Sabal Solar Canopy offers an LCoE (Levelized Cost of Energy) of $0.18/kWh in the Caribbean region. The Sabal Solar Canopy is a durable parking lot shading system designed to last for 20 years or more in punishing marine environments.
